SPAR Charity Partner

SPAR in partnership with EUROSPAR proudly support the National Breast Cancer Research Institute as our charity partner.

The National Breast Cancer Research Institute is a national charity that funds a comprehensive research programme at the University of Galway. The charity was founded in 1991 by Professor Fred Given in order to increase awareness, improve access to treatment and conduct international class research into breast cancer.

Currently, 1 in 7 Irish women will be diagnosed with breast cancer before 75 years of age and there are 3,507 cases diagnosed annually which is set to continue to increase.

1 in 7 women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime. These women are our mothers, daughters, sisters, grandmothers, friends, and neighbours. They are integral members of every family and community in Ireland.

Breast cancer research has improved the diagnosis, treatment options, and outcomes for those who develop the disease. The National Breast Cancer Research Institute want to fund these research programmes to continue to impact the outcomes for those who develop the disease in the future.

NBCRI’s mission is to raise funds in support of world-class breast cancer research, in doing so having a real and measurable impact on outcomes for breast cancer patients in every corner of Ireland. The Charity relies solely on the generosity of the public, as they do not receive grant funding from the Government.

Their patient-focused cancer research concentrates on finding better methods for diagnosing and treating breast cancer and ensures that survivors live longer better-quality lives.

Funds are raised by a donation of sales from selected SPAR Own Brand Products. We donate 10 cent on SPAR Bottled Water and 1 cent on selected SPAR Range products.
