SPAR Express Clondalkin (Ninth Lock Road) Celebrate Official Store Opening

      SPAR Express Clondalkin (Ninth Lock Road) celebrated their official store opening on Friday the 11th December.

The celebrations were a great success and featured a special guest appearance from Santa Claus, who arrived in Clondalkin straight from the North Pole. There was plenty happening instore on the day including face painting, balloon modelling, and Giggles The Clown kept the local children entertained.

Retailer Johnny Brady said: “We are delighted with the success of our official store opening. We would like to thank the local community of Clondalkin for supporting us and we look forward to serving the community for many years to come.”

    Four SPAR stores pick up coveted ShelfLife C-Store Award at industry event.

The winners at the 2015 ShelfLife C-Store Awards held in Dublin are:

SPAR Express in Letterkenny – Supreme Champion: National Convenience Store Winner 2015 Award & Forecourt Retailer of the Year 2015 Award
SPAR Express Junction 14 in Mayfield, Co. Kildare – Best Food to Go Department Award

Donal Skehan Visits SPAR Mount Street

      SPAR Mount Street had a special visit from Celebrity Cook, Donal Skehan, on December 9th to promote his new television series, Cook, Eat, Burn. SPAR Mount Street has recreated a number of recipes from Donal’s series and the products are available to buy in-store, along with his new cookbook ‘Fresh’.

Donal was more than happy to pose for photos with delighted customers in-store and the SPIN 1038 Spinis also paid a visit on the day, while a live DJ entertained the crowd in-store. SPAR sponsors Cook, Eat, Burn which airs on Fridays at 7.30pm on RTÉ One.

SPAR retailer Thomas Ennis said: “We would like to thank Donal Skehan for visiting our SPAR Mount Street store to sample some of our recreations of his recipes and to pose with happy customers for photos. It’s great to be able to host events such as these and we hope all our customers enjoyed the day as much as we did.”

SPAR Mount Street has been serving the local community since September 2011, employs 20 staff locally and is open from 6.30am to 10pm Monday to Saturday and Sundays from 8am until 8pm. SPAR Mount Street is part of a group of five SPAR stores in the Baggot Mile Dublin area, all with a fresh food focus.

Sharkey’s SPAR Express Tuam, Bishop Street Celebrates Launch of New Look Store

      Sharkey’s SPAR Express Bishop Street welcomed customers to the store to celebrate the launch of its new store design and in-store features on Friday, 15th May from 12pm until 5pm.

Sharkey’s SPAR Express Bishop Street is one of the first stores in Ireland to introduce the new SPAR store design, developed by SPAR Ireland in partnership with SPAR International. The redesign of Sharkey’s SPAR Express Bishop Street combines a number of new store offerings including the introduction of a SPAR Tasty Deli and a brand new seating area.

The official launch featured lots of fun activities for children, including face painting, balloon modelling and a special guest appearance from Mickey Mouse and friends who were delighted to pose for photos. The day also included delicious food tastings and many spot prizes being won by delighted customers.

Speaking after the event, Retailer Eugene Sharkey said: “We’re very pleased with the reaction we’ve had to the launch from both new and existing customers. There was a wonderful turnout and we would like to thank the local community for supporting us.”

Sharkey’s SPAR Express Bishop Street has been serving the local community since 2011, provides employment to 11 staff locally and is open from 7am to 11pm Monday to Friday, 7.30am to 11pm on Saturdays, and from 8am to 11pm on Sundays.

 

Race for Family Pride with SPAR at Spring into Summer 5K Road Race

A €500 prize fund is on offer on April 26th in Forest Park, Mullingar where the Spring into Summer 5K road race will take place. The event is being sponsored by McIntyre’s SPAR Dublin Road, Mullingar and is raising funds for Curraghmore National School.

At 11am athletes and families alike will take to the Spring into Summer 5k Run and a 2k Family Fun Run. Participants who sign up for the race before April 17th will receive a personalised race number that is pre-printed with their family name. The organisers say this is unique in an event of this type and will be great to encourage kids to join in. “When Running for Family Pride, everyone’s a winner and we all will look like professionals,” says Ray McDonnell.

Noel McIntyre of McIntyre’s SPAR Dublin Road, Mullingar is encouraging everybody to sign up for the event which promises to be a great day out, “Here at McIntyre’s SPAR being an active member of our local community is very important to us, which is why we’re delighted to be sponsoring the Spring into Summer event. SPAR Express Corrib Oil Gort Celebrates 20 Years Serving the Local Community

SPAR Express Corrib Oil Gort marked 20 years serving the local community by celebrating with customer days on Friday 13th and Saturday 14th of March.

Fair City’s Ryan Andrews made a special appearance on the Saturday and was delighted to chat with happy customers and pose for photos. There was fun for all the family with great prizes to be won by playing ‘Spin and Win’ and lots of enjoyable activities for children including face painting, balloon modelling, a puppet show and a magic show.

The store features a new home heating oil office where customers can speak to a representative about their heating oil needs, with the option of ordering.

SPAR Spring Spin Cycle Launches into Action

Local retailers support charity cycle to raise funds for the North Westmeath Hospice and Mullingar Lions Club

The annual springtime charity cycle for North Westmeath Hospice – which takes place on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th April – was launched by Antoinette Butler representing the North Westmeath Hospice, Andy Vambeck from the SPAR Spring Spin Cycle 2015 Committee, Retailers Noel and Ray McIntyre of SPAR Dublin Road, Roy Connor of SPAR Dominic St, and Pat and Una McDonagh of SPAR Ardleigh Vale Mullingar.

Mullingar Lions Club is pleased to announce SPAR as the title sponsor of the SPAR Spring Spin Cycle 2015 for a second year running. Funds raised will support the important work of the hospice and over the previous years, the event has raised in total in excess of €315,000.

The challenging two-day 260km assault on the N4 from Mullingar to Sligo and back sees over a hundred cyclists make the trip. The charity event begins on Saturday the 25th of April, starting at the Mullingar Park Hotel with a stopover for the night in the Sligo Park Hotel.

Gray’s SPAR Barrack Street, Waterford welcomed customers to its Family Fun Day to celebrate the launch of its new store design and new full off-licence on Friday, 30th January. The store’s permanent price cuts and new offerings were also launched.

Gray’s SPAR Barrack Street is one of the first stores in Ireland to introduce the new SPAR store design, developed by SPAR Ireland in partnership with SPAR International. The redesign of Gray’s SPAR Barrack Street combines a number of new store offerings including the introduction of a new full off-licence, SPAR’s Tasty Deli, and a wider bakery selection.

The Family Fun Day featured a special guest appearance from Fair City’s Ryan Andrews who was delighted to chat with customers and pose for photos. The day also included delicious food tastings, many spot prizes being won, a visit from Mr Tayto, and a live outside broadcast from WLR FM.

SPAR Express Tulla Road, Ennis Celebrate Official Store Opening

SPAR Express Tulla Road, Ennis celebrated their official store opening on Saturday 6th
December 2014.

The celebrations were a great success with an appearance from Fair City’s Ryan Andrews. Local children were entertained with face painting, a fun colouring competition and enjoyed surprise appearances from Dora the Explorer, Peppa Pig and Mr. Tayto. There were also great competitions on the day to win spot prizes and top hotel stays, and Clare FM broadcasted live from the store making the official opening a great success.

Store owner Thomas O’Keeffe said: “We are delighted with the success of the day. We would like to thank the local community of Ennis for supporting us and we look forward to serving the community for many years to come.”

SPAR Express Celbridge Marks 10 Years Serving the Local Community

SPAR Express Celbridge marked 10 years serving the local community with a Christmas themed Family Fun Day on Saturday 6th December 2014.

Santa and his elves visited the store with a gift for children, with activities including face painting also keeping them entertained. Adults enjoyed tasting some delicious food samples which included products from the new SPAR Select premium own brand range. Complete with a live broadcast from local radio station KFM, the day was a fantastic success.
