The final winner in each category was announced at a gala awards lunch in the Shelbourne Hotel, St Stephen’s Green, Dublin, on Tuesday 23th June 2015. Particular mention must go to SPAR Dame Street who won Best Convenience Retailer.
Blas na hEireann – awards for SPAR Select Sausages and SPAR Own Brand Chicken & Leek Pie
SPAR’s Own Brand Chicken and Leek Pie and new SPAR Select Irish Pork Sausages ticked all the boxes for the blind tasters at this year’s Blas na hÉireann awards held in early October in Dingle. The delicious SPAR Select Irish Pork Sausages wiped the floor picking up a gold award after being deemed the judges’ favourite.
Already a favourite with customers, the SPAR Chicken and Leek Pie was also a winner, taking home bronze in the ready meal category. Both products are produced locally in Ireland with the sausages produced by Mallon’s and the pie produced by Daily Bake.
National Q Mark Awards
The National Q Mark Awards, developed by independent body Excellence Ireland Quality Association (EIQA), are one of the most prestigious business accolades in Ireland recognising organisations who have demonstrated outstanding quality and excellent practices within their industry sector. Three SPAR retailers had fantastic success on the night.
Ireland’s Forecourt and Convenience Retailer Awards
SPAR retailers have scooped awards at the Forecourt & Convenience Retailer Awards (IFCR) 2014 held recently in Dublin. SPAR Junction 14 Mayfield scooped the ultimate industry honour having been crowned Forecourt Retailer of the Year for the third consecutive year and manager, Gavin Moran took home Best Manager award.
Also winners on the night, SPAR Ratoath took home the award for Best Site with Licence to Sell Alcohol and SPAR Barack Obama Plaza won the Best Newcomer Award.
Checkout’s Best in Fresh Award
Checkout magazine’s annual ‘Best in Fresh’ Awards, celebrating excellence across the FMCG sector, saw success for Thomas Ennis from SPAR Lower Baggot Street, who took home the Best in Fresh award for Best Presentation.
